Create Sender ID

Welcome to the Notify Africa SMS RESTful API documentation! This comprehensive guide will walk you through the process of creating a Sender ID for your Notify Africa account.

We present you with a step-by-step guide to help you create a Sender ID and start sending branded SMS messages to your customers and stakeholders.

If you have reached this page, we assume you have an active Notify Africa account and are ready to create your first Sender ID.

What is a Sender ID?

A Sender ID is a unique identifier that appears as the sender of an SMS message. It is a great way to brand your messages and make them more recognizable to your recipients.

Sender IDs can be alphanumeric (e.g., NotifyAfrica) or numeric (e.g., 12345).

Have a Sender ID in mind?

Before you create a Sender ID, you need to have a Sender ID in mind. This could be your business name, brand, or any other identifier that you want to use as the sender of your SMS messages.

Make sure your Sender ID is unique and complies with the Sender ID guidelines.

After you have decided on a Sender ID, you can proceed to create it in your Notify Africa account.

  1. Log in to your Notify Africa account.
  2. Navigate to the Sender IDs section.
  3. Click on the "Create Sender ID" button.
  4. Enter your desired Sender ID.
  5. You can choose the privacy of your Sender ID (Public or Private).
  6. Click on the "Save" button to create your Sender ID.
  7. Voila! You have successfully created your Sender ID.

Public vs. Private Sender IDs

Notify Africa allows you to create both Public and Private Sender IDs. Public Sender IDs can be used by any Notify Africa user, while Private Sender IDs are exclusive to your account.

Choose the privacy setting that best suits your needs and requirements.

Default Sender ID

Upon navigating to your sender IDs section, you will notice that you have an available Sender ID (PUNGUZO). This is public Sender ID, which you can use to send SMS messages if you have not created any custom Sender IDs.

You can always use public Sender ID at any time or create a new Sender ID.
